Some notes taken from a Parish Magazine in the 1960s by Tom Beastall about the New Road and the National School

The following is an account of Tickhill National School given to Rosemary Cornish by Miss Kate A. Kimberley during their time together during a Workers' Education Association course run by Local Historian Tom Beastall.

Memories from 1920-1922 or 3 The following is an account written by Mrs Betty Hill who is sister to Mrs Joan Wilcox. Their father was the Mr Rawson who was the local builder responsible for the houses in Rawson Road

Mr. Roy Taylor was interviewed by Joanne Taylor on 28 April 2005 and describes his memories of school in the 1940s

In 1764 the Archbishop of York, Robert Hay Drummond, undertook a Visitation of all the parishes for which he was responsible. The Visitation required clergy to submit returns to 12 sets of questions about their parishes including the provision of schools.

The diaries paint a fascinating picture of a child’s Christmas in 2007. Many diaries close with a question – “What was your Christmas like?” – addressed to the future reader in 2057, 2107, 2157… I wonder what the answers will be….

This is a collection of documents relating to the history of schools in Tickhill including the Subscriptions for the building of the new National Schools (1865), a report on the National and Infant Schools (1852),  and Rules and Regulations for the Infant School (1839)

Hazel Fullwood recounts her memories of her schooldays in the 1920s and 1930s together with more general memories of Tickhill at that time.
